Growing up in South Korea, I honestly never had to buy a single pair of socks in my life. My paternal grandparents ran a sock manufacturing factory, which meant my family and I were always surrounded by premium, high-quality socks. I grew up taking exceptional durability and comfort for granted, never realising how rare it actually was.
Then, I moved to Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.
When I needed to buy socks here for the first time, I headed down to big supermarkets. To be completely honest, I was shocked. I had never experienced such poor quality—they would go flimsy and fall apart after just a few washes.
The Struggle with School Socks for Four Kids
As a parent of four children, buying school socks became a frustrating routine. Out of pure necessity, I kept having to grab standard black school socks from big supermarkets, but the quality was always a disappointment. The inside threads would easily fray, unravel, and come loose, making them uncomfortable and short-lived.
Everything changed when we decided to sort things out for ourselves. Even though my grandfather has passed away and the family factory is no longer running, we still maintain strong, trusted connections with top-tier wholesale suppliers in Korea. We decided to bring those exact high-quality socks straight from Korea to our home right here in Tasmania, launching our online shop to share them with Australian families.
What Our Family Thinks (Kids and Wife!)
If you ask who is the happiest about our new business, it’s a tight race between our kids and my wife!
Thanks to our new collection, our eldest child is finally wearing proper, high-grade black school socks. They told me the feeling is completely different—no more flimsy fabric, and no more loose, annoying threads catching on their toes. Hearing how much they love them makes all the effort worthwhile.
And it’s not just the kids. Winter here in Tassie can get freezing, and my wife used to struggle so much with cold feet during the chilly months. Now, because we are able to source premium lambswool socks at a great price, she finally has something truly warm and cozy to wear. She loves them, and it has made a world of difference for her daily comfort.
